Zero. Zilch. Niet. Nada. That’s how much waste Brighton’s Silo restaurant ditches each day.
The restaurant, which claims to be Britain’s first truly zero waste eatery, has just raised almost £50,000 in its oversubscribed offer on the Crowd2fund site.

The restaurant operates on a zero waste management policy through all parts of the supply chain.
The finance will be used to develop the business and to launch a new coffee system – ‘fair transport’ coffee that has been sailed to the UK by wind.
Douglas McMaster, chef and owner of Silo, says: “Zero waste is a discipline that is gaining fierce momentum. While it’s a buzz word at the moment it will inevitably be the association phrase when we consider a truly sustainable life/work style.”
On the crowdfunding campaign, they say: “Crowdfunding has been transformational in our growth. As a small business doing something different, bank finance isn’t really viable.
