Triodos, Europe’s leading sustainable bank, has become the first bank to receive a Good Egg mark, from Good With Money.
The mark is the only accreditation in the UK designed to make it easier for consumers to find financial providers that use finance to benefit people and planet, as well as offering a good deal for their pockets.
Triodos joins Pennine Wealth Solutions, a Lancashire-based wealth management firm, which also received a Good Egg this week.
The Good Egg for us represents an important step in providing guidance for people aiming to align their money with their values

The Good Egg mark is based on a rigorous matrix of criteria and determines how well a provider measures up against a range of different environmental, social and industry impact factors, taking into account the size and history of the firm and its performance.
Rebecca O’Connor, co-founder and editor of Good With Money, said: “Just in time for Easter, Triodos Bank has joined a select group of financial services companies that are able to prove they make a positive impact. This is not just by improving the lives of customers, but by benefiting society and the environment, too. Triodos passed the criteria for the Good Egg with flying colours and it’s great to see them go from strength to strength in the UK. They now offer the leading ethical option in the current account market.”
In assessing Triodos, a further level of analysis was provided by the Good Egg advisory panel, which includes:
- Anna Laycock, executive director of the Finance Innovation Lab,
- Fionn Travers Smith, former project manager for Move Your Money,
- John Fleetwood, managing director of 3D Investing, and
- Michael Fotis, founder of Smart Money People.
Triodos Bank only lends to organisations generating social, environmental or cultural benefit. This includes social housing, charities and social enterprises, renewable energy, organic food and farming and fair trade. Triodos Bank offers a current account, a full range of ethical ISAs, including Cash ISAs, a Stocks and Shares ISA and more recently an Innovative Finance ISA via the new Triodos Crowdfunding platform.
Bevis Watts, Managing Director at Triodos Bank UK, said: “The Good Egg for us represents an important step in providing guidance for people aiming to align their money with their values. It helps to identify the genuinely ethical options in the market. Thankfully many savers are now putting transparency and positive impact at their top of their criteria. At Triodos we publish every loan we make and are 100% transparent. In that way, we can show that we direct money to help finance change, building stronger communities and protecting the environment.”
George Critchley, Senior Partner at Pennine Wealth Solutions, said: “I am delighted to have achieved the Good Egg mark, being able to provide investment solutions that avoid harm, do good and make money has been a passion of mine and the team at Pennine Wealth Solutions. Having this mark will reassure Financial Advisers of the lengths we have gone to provide positive investments solutions for their clients”.
Good With Money initially worked with the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF) to develop the Good Egg mark which launched last year. Other Good Eggs include Thrive Renewables, Downing Crowd, Abundance and EQ Investors.
